COVID-19 Testing: PCR, Antigen, and Antibody Tests Explained
The words “COVID-19 testing” can be confusing because there are three different COVID-19 tests: the PCR (polymerase chain reaction), antigen, and antibody (serology) tests. Both the PCR and antigen tests are used to tell if a person has an active infection. The antibody test can tell if person has had a COVID-19 infection in the past.
